AQUAMID - PERMANENT FILLER - PERFORMANCE AND DURABILITY
Aquamid ® dermal filler is a non-resorptive filler that remains stable at the site of application. This is due to the chemical stability of polyacrylamide which is the main ingredient of this filler. Due to the size of the molecule itself, there is no movement in the tissues or enzymatic degradation. Aquamid – a permanent dermal filler has been extensively tested in preclinical and clinical studies with a follow-up period of 2 – 9 years. Studies show that Aquamid in tissues is surrounded by a thin layer of connective tissue that allows metabolism and energy (primarily water). There is no hardening or capsule formation, so the results are very “soft” and natural.
This implant adds extra volume to the subcutaneous tissue and thus affects the contour of the skin. The final effect is a long-lasting aesthetic correction and reconstruction of the soft tissues of the face and body.
Aquamid is not recommended forthe correction of fine wrinkles around the eyes, horizontal furrows on the forehead, in the case of earlier application of a permanent filler and the application of a resorptive filler within 6-12 months. Breast and genital area are also not desirable locations. New injections can be given after the shortest period of two weeks, until there is a maximum interval.

The efficacy and safety of Aquamide have been documented in several clinical trials involving over 5,000 patients. These studies have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Data obtained in a central U.S. study supported the PMA application to the U.S. FDA.
OTHER AESTHETIC CORRECTIONS AFTER APPLICATION OF AQUAMIDE
Treatments such as Botox injections, dermabrasion, peels, hair removal, tattoos, cosmetic dental procedures, lasers and other similar treatments can cause an inflammatory skin reaction. Because of this risk, none of these procedures are recommended for at least 6 months before and after Aquamid injection . Aquamid should not be applied to the site of a previously placed permanent implant, and it is also not recommended to place a permanent implant in the area of already injected Aquamid.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS AND PRECAUTIONS
After administration of Aquamid, temporary reactions that rarely occur are redness, pain, swelling and itching. Aquamid has so far shown no risk of an allergic reaction. To avoid an inflammatory reaction, it is not recommended to expose the treated area to intense heat (sunbathing, solarium, sauna) or cold (cold wind) for 4 weeks after treatment. After this time, it is recommended to apply sunscreen. The use of some non-steroidal analgesics and acetylsalicylic acid preparations (Aspirin, Andol) is not recommended for the first few days after the procedure due to the increased risk of bleeding (hematoma) at the site of application.
