AESTHETIC RESULTS AND SAFETY OF AQUAMIDE: A 5-YEAR STUDY ON 251 PATIENTS ”- (PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY)

Aquamid as a permanent dermal filler has been in use for more than 16 years. A study by an author from Aachen, Germany, was recently completed and published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The authors sought to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the material (polyacrylamide gel) in 251 patients. Subjects received an average of 4.3 ml of Aquamid, and the most commonly treated areas were nasolabial folds and lips. As one of the longest studies ever done on dermal fillers, the study showed a very good aesthetic effect and few side effects after injection. Aquamid is recommended as an excellent alternative to those patients who want soft tissue augmentation (volume addition).

EYELASH COSMETIC SURGERY (BLEPHAROPLASTY) CAN IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE ”- (SOURCE: AAFPRS NEWS BRIEF)

“Aesthetic operations are increasingly accessible to a wider circle of stakeholders, although the cost of surgical procedures is ambiguous and depends on several factors, primarily on the type of surgery, as well as the reputation and experience of the operator, and of course other material costs that are inevitable.”

“At the recent annual meeting of the American Academy of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery, a study was presented on a sample of 26 patients who underwent upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. In this study, the authors used a quality of life questionnaire, a highly sensitive method of assessing the impact of surgery (eyelid correction) on quality of life.

The results of the research showed that eyelid surgery has a positive impact on quality of life, measured in almost all parts of the questionnaire. It is pointed out that most patients feel significantly better after the operation. The authors say their study is the first to confirm that the quality of life index is indeed rising to the level that patients expect from plastic surgery. ”
